Funded by the Department for Communities and the Local Government, NHAS offers free housing and homelessness advice to the professionals who support those facing homelessness. With hundreds of thousands of people struggling with bad housing or homelessness in Britain, NHAS’s overall aim is to prevent homelessness in the UK.

NHAS was set up as a partnership between Shelter and Citizens Advice and required a capable agency to maintain and improve their existing site. As their development teams were already at capacity, they generated an exercise to find the best organisation for the job, which turned out to be the Ryde Digital team!

Initially, we identified the changes that needed to be made to their original site, such as a responsive web design and CMS update. However, this progressed to a complete redesign and development of the NHAS website. We started with the responsive redesign, before progressing on to the restructuring of NHAS’s content and finally updating their CMS from ExpressionEngine 2 to ExpressionEngine 3.

It was great to work in conjunction with Shelter once again as they are a fantastic organisation who help millions of Britons every year. The new NHAS site is not only a helpful and educational platform, but the ‘chat’ module allows anyone seeking advice to be able to contact the NHAS directly and with ease. We thoroughly enjoyed working on this project and hope the new website will help many individuals facing homelessness in the future.
