Shorehouse Design was originally a property development company that built large residential properties and apartment complexes in south east Essex. Almost two decades on, the team now focus their attention on renovating private and commercial property, which includes extensions, loft conversions, roofing and building maintenance.
Shorehouse Design commissioned Ryde Digital to fully redesign and develop their existing website. Although their previous website was functional, it was running on an old content management system which meant that during the transition, the majority of the data had to be migrated to ExpressionEngine, the CMS that supports the new site.
Shorehouse Design wanted a simple and effective way of showcasing their vast portfolio and as they have been frequent users of Instagram since 2013, we decided to create a unique data import feed which links all posts from their Instagram account to their website portfolio page. This was a new challenge as the data import had to save the imagery from the Instagram posts and then automatically update to the web portfolio to create a ‘live’ feed for visitors to follow.
The design for the new website was kept sleek and simple, with the black, yellow and white branding appearing on every web page. The Shorehouse Design team wanted the website to be easily navigable and to clearly highlight their full range of services, which is achieved on the home page via the 12 click-through boxes.
The finished site is clean, crisp and professional, and portrays the honest and reliable values that the Mackintosh brothers built their company on. The highlight of the project was definitely the linked Instagram data import function, as it not only displays Shorehouse’s impressive portfolio, but it also means that clients and project managers can use the feed to keep an eye on their projects and ensure that everything is on track.
